This was followed by a hearing aid distribution program for those who needed them. The initiative aimed to support elderly residents experiencing hearing difficulties and to improve their overall quality of life through better communication and social interaction.
Many children who attend his school and primary school may have mild hearing losses which often get missed. Thus, the concept of preschool hearing screening is important to detect such hearing losses and is prevalent amongst schools in developed countries.
This unfortunately is not the case in our part of the world. In order to carry out this activity as well as to increase awareness amongst families and teachers of school, children, ICHF under the aegis of the Cochlear Implant Group of India (CIGI ) carried out a preschool Hearing screening activity for pre-school children of a leading school in Noida. This was followed by a teacher awareness program – to enlighten them on the importance of pre-school screening, how to make classrooms friendly for children with hearing losses, and the role of cochlear implants.
ICHF held a free camp along with the RWA of Greater Kailash I, for the benefit of those who serve the community – such as House helps, drivers, guards, cleaners, and their families. Large number of individuals were screened for ear conditions, and hearing loss. They underwent ENT examination, and Hearing evaluation. Medication was provided free of cost. Of those who had significant hearing loss, were subsequently provided and fitted with hearing aids.
ICHF held a free camp in housing society in Vaishali , for the benefit of those who serve the community– such as House helps, drivers, guards, cleaners, and their families. Large number of individuals were screened for ear conditions, and hearing loss. They underwent ENT examination, and Hearing evaluation.
Medication was provided free of cost. Of those who had significant hearing loss, were subsequently provided and fitted with hearing aids.
An educational event was organized for the families of existing Cochlear Implant users in Delhi – on how to take care of, troubleshoot and get the best out of their CI devices.
I Can Hear Foundation is hosting a Free Ear & Hearing Camp. Free medical care and Hearing Aids will be provided. This initiative aims to provide hearing support to individuals in need, ensuring they can reconnect with the world around them.
An educational event was organized for the families of existing Cochlear Implant users in Patna – on how to take care of, troubleshoot and get the best out of their CI devices.
Our ENT Surgeons and our Audiologists (Hearing Specialists) carried out a free camp for ENT Consultation and Hearing Screening in association with the GK I E Block RWS for all its residents and workers. A large number of adults and children were examined, advised of the appropriate treatment, underwent Hearing tests, and were provided with options for their hearing loss.
On the occasion of World Hearing Day, a 10 day camp was held at SpHear Clinic , Lajpat Nagar to provide members of the local community access to free ENT examination and treatment , Hearing Assessment and provision of hearing aids. Many community workers – drivers, servants , hawkers were identified with hearing loss . They were then called at SpHear Lajpat Nagar center to be fitted with desired HA and also counselling and care & maintenance demonstration was conducted for best use of the devices.
An educational event was organized for the families of existing AB Cochlear Implant users – on how to get the best out of their CI devices.
An ENT and Hearing Camp was carried out at Sri Laxmi Narayan Mandir. A number of people in the community were examined and their hearing tested free of cost. Medical treatment and Audiological management was also provided .
A needy CI recipient received a CI processor and accessories via the generous donation of Dr. Preet Batra Anand (wife of Mr. Ravi Anand – a CI recipient himself)
Residents from underserved communities in and around Noida were screened at convenient community locations by trained health workers using the Shruti screening and diagnosis kit developed by Medtronic partners.
A telemedicine application transmits images of the patient’s middle ear via a smart phone to the Shruti programme staff & health care workers & audiologists at SpHear Speech & Hearing Clinic, NOIDA.
ICHF team of SpHear Clinic sent its community health workers in the community to carry out ear and hearing screening camps – to detect ear disease and hearing loss in the community.This door to door hearing screening was conducted at NOIDA location for more than a month . SpHear team hired 6 health care workers to conduct this door to door hearing screening program . Identified individuals were called at the Noida SpHear branch and complete hearing diagnosis was conducted at an extreme subsidy . Patients requiring ENT help were sent to local ENT doctors .
Over 100 people attended the event. Professionals talked about hearing loss and its treatment.

A lot of awareness was raised on the importance of Early Diagnosis of Hearing Loss and the Importance and success of timely intervention through Cochlear Implants .
This was an event which was hosted by “I Can Hear Foundation” (ICHF) to sensitize the community with the power of resolution in the field of hearing disability or deafness.
Over 200 guests attended the event including Minister of State for Health : Shri Ashwani Chowbey ; and senior dignitaries. The Guest of Honour : Ms Sangita Reddy, Jt Managing Director, Apollo Hospitals Group.
Hearing Aid and cochlear implant recipients participated in the event and showcased the benefit obtained with hearing aids and cochlear implants.
There was a panel discussion with esteemed panelists from schools, media , entertainment and the medical fraternity.
“Hear the future” is the theme for World Hearing Day 2018. I Can Hear Foundation will work along the lines of the WHO to raise awareness on how to prevent deafness and hearing loss and promote ear and hearing care across the world.
It will focus on preventive strategies to stem the rise and outline steps to ensure access to the necessary rehabilitation services and communication tools and products for people with hearing loss.

In July 2015, they started their first school in India in Lajpat Nagar III, Delhi, in partnership with the South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) which runs 589 primary schools,
The schools emphasis is on good health , but there are many who still have frequent bouts of ear and throat infections, as well as fever. Due to this they are often absent from school, which in turn effects their learning progress. Parents are unable to diagnose and treat the children on their own or they fall back on home remedies which are not always effective and occasionally do more harm than good.
Some of their children also have speech difficulty which makes their class participation difficult.
ICHF with the help of its partners SpHear Clinic and Adventis ENT Clinics held regular ENT and hearing screening camps at the school premises which will help to identify children with ENT, hearing and speech difficulties.
SpHear Clinic provided ongoing hearing assessments to all the kids who visited the clinic post screening activities at the school and also provided speech therapy to 3 children identified for these services for more than 2 years on a free basis. The therapy was provided at Lajpat Nagar premises .
